After the Cross

The Cross is today, and after it the pilgrims go home and the town sleeps. I always feel a bit empty. Bread is back to normal in the shop (during the Feast it runs out by ten o'clock), the lanes are quiet again, and the sellers on the hill count their money.

We went up in the evening, the whole family, in good clothes. Eldiyar was told to be silent for the whole liturgy and was silent for eleven minutes, a record.
