Since October the vendor of our machine software cannot connect from outside, and we can't connect out. Updates now arrive on a USB stick, in a courier's bag, from a city across a border. The stick is checked, then checked again, then I take it to a branch by bus.
It's a very slow way to fix a very small bug. The bug is 11 lines long. The trip is 3 hours.
