About
I am Denha Tursunbekov, born in 1995 in a village below the Chatkal, the third of five children. I studied at the technical school in Talas, then came to St. Ephrem Major Seminary on Cathedral Hill. On the Saturday after the feast of Yuhanna of Merv in 2020 the Archbishop laid his hands on me and I became a deacon of the Church of St. Janyl.
A deacon stands at the bema, reads the Gospel, calls the people to prayer and carries the incense. He does not consecrate and he does not preach, so these letters are not sermons. They are what a deacon sees from his place at the side of the altar and in the lanes below it.
