My essay for our English class, the theme was "a work of art that is underrated". Grade: 5!! So I put it here.
Everyone says Jolchu is the great one, and it is. But Kara Suu is braver. In 2004 everybody wanted tüntolk to make Jolchu again, and they made a dark album about the oily canals of Nurzhan, about the factories and the smoke and the people who live there. The critics did not like it. The fans did not like it. But listen with the light off: it is a city breathing. One day people will understand. I am waiting for them.
(The teacher wrote: "Strong opinion. Commas!!")

I went to the Talasfilm gate (the main one) and waited from 4 to 6 in the evening. I had a notebook for an autograph. Many people came out. None of them were tall. Then, at 6:05, a very tall man in a grey coat walked by, with his head down. I saw only his back. I did not shout. I think it was him.
Jyldyz says it was a lighting engineer called Ravil. I said it was a destiny. She said it was Ravil.

Mor-Wave night at Club Doran!! Two DJs from Almaty played old tüntolk, the Jolchu tracks, and the whole club sang "Kes, kes!" Mama thinks I was at Aika's doing homework. (Mama does not read my blog. I hope.)
I have no voice now. Worth it.

Rumour (100% true, from Asel's sister who works in the canteen there): Askar Daniyarov from tüntolk works at Talasfilm now!!! In the sound department!!! Asel's sister saw him take kompot and a salad. He is VERY tall and says "rakhmat" very politely.
I am a TSU student now (philology!!) so maybe Talasfilm will need a translator ;) haha.

Three years. I listened to track 6 in the dark. The light went out in the middle (it went out) and I finished it in the real dark. Maybe it is the right way.
tüntolk don't play any more. People say the venues are shut, people say they stopped. I say: they are somewhere in a boiler room, with the synth, thinking.

Today it is two years since Kara Suu came out. I listened to it all the way through in the dark, with headphones, like they say you should. Track 6 made me cry again. I don't know why. It is only a hum and a voice far away.
Jyldyz says I am weird. I say I am deep. ★

My cassette of Jolchu (the copy of the copy of the copy) is stretching. Track 3 now sounds like Askar is singing underwater. Track 5 has a gap in the middle. I tried a pencil to wind it (my uncle's old trick) and now it is a tiny bit shorter.
I need a CD. A CD costs 90 som and they sell them only at the Bazar-i Kalan, at a stall where the man looks at you like you have come to steal. I will go on Saturday with Jyldyz for protection.

OMG OMG OMG. My uncle brought the DVD of Nochnoy Dozor from Almaty. In the scene in the nightclub in Moscow, the song that plays is JYLDYZDARDY KES!!!!!!!! Our tüntolk!!! In a Russian film!!! I screamed so much that Bars ran under the sofa.
Aika says it is not them, it is some Russian band that sounds like them. AIKA. I know every second of this song. "Kes, kes!" It is THEM.
So now everybody in Moscow knows tüntolk and nobody in my class. Life is unfair.
